Here's a little nugget from Dr. Breshears in today's theology class.
Theology without piety is sterile abstraction.
Piety without theology is empty emotionalism.
Joined they are worship and truth.

- I'm just a relatively young guy who recently moved to Portland to get schooled by Western Seminary. Because Jesus is God Himself revealed to us in the flesh, I try to follow Him and what He says, all for the glory and love of God. To win in this life is to know God. I naturally fail at this paramount task, but am not left in despair. On the contrary, I am ever hopeful because my hope is not to be placed in my own ability but in Jesus' complete work in His life, death, and resurrection. I still haven't figured out how many exclamation points are necessary to capture the weight of that idea, but I'll let you know once I figure that out.
